What Is Plantar Fasciitis?

The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot, connecting your heel bone to your toes. This tissue helps support your arch and absorbs stress during walking and running.

When the plantar fascia becomes irritated or overstretched, small tears can develop, leading to inflammation and pain. Over time, untreated plantar fasciitis can become chronic and make everyday activities increasingly difficult.
